    La veneración por el pasado me pareció siempre reaccionaria. La derecha elige el pasado porque prefiere a los muertos: mundo quieto, tiempo quieto. Los poderosos, que legitiman sus privilegios por la herencia, cultivan la nostalgia. Se estudia historia como se visita un museo; y esa colección de momias es una estafa. Nos mienten el pasado como nos mienten el presente: enmascaran la realidad. Se obliga al oprimido a que haga suya una memoria fabricada por el opresor, ajena, disecada, estéril. Así se resignará a vivir una vida que no es la suya como si fuera la única posible.
